that's powerful. at 800-974-6006 tty/v. welcome back to "today" on this friday morning, february 8th, 2013. we have a very special hour planned for you here, everything cheaper today. we're dedicating the show "today" to frugal living. the best, savviest shopper. dinner for four for 12 bucks or less. tweet us your best money-saving advice at #mysavingstips and we'll share some of them throughout the show. jeff yager, self proclaimed ultimate cheapskate will help us
9:01 am
this hour. your very proud of this title. >> i am. i'll maekke a few bucks shoveli some sidewalks while i'm here. >> he thinks of everything. >> really is a frugal guy. blizzard warnings in effect up and down the coast. al is in boston where they will get some of the very worst of it. al, good morning. >> good morning, willie. this is really a potent perfect storm situation as far as a blizzard is concerned. we've got two low pressure systems, a clipper coming across the great lakes, low pressure along the southeastern coast. both are moving together. as you can see, there's the cold air coming in right around cleveland. you can see snow there. lot of heavy rain making its way through the del marva peninsula. here is what happens. these systems will transfer energy. the clipper will transfer its energy off to that system that's just along shore. as it does, the moisture comes up, the cold air comes in. as you can see, those lines --
9:02 am
those are lines of pressure. and as they tighten up, those are the winds, the strong winds that will come in and blow this snow and create blizzard-like conditions. here's what we've got. we're looking at winter storm warnings stretching from michigan all the way through upstate new york, interior pennsylvania and new england. but from new york city all the way up to east port, maine, we've got blizzard warnings. winds, sustained winds of 30 miles per hour or more. visibility of a quarter mile or less. here are the conditions we're talking about. generally upstate new york and pennsylvania, anywhere from six to nine inches of snow. new york city, up to a foot of snow. from east port all the way down to providence, we're talking about two feet of snow and in and around boston, we could be looking at more than that. some areas to the west of boston could see -- it's not

of things. one, never pay interest. avoid paying interest. >> how do you avoid that? >> if you can't afford to pay for it now, you really can't afford it. americans spend $600,000 in interest in their lifetime. cheapskates spend significantly less than that. there's a whole lot of ways you can try to live that way and save that interest. other thing we hate spending money on is depreciation. we like to buy things used. let someone else pay that depreciation. >> a new car is out? >> antique furniture which increase in value rather than regular furniture which decreases in value. >> is it better to buy or lease a car? >> in my opinion buy a better quality used car. >> do you know what annoys me are the baggage fees at the airport. >> annoys everyone. >> you already paid a couple hundred bucks for the flight and, by the way, 50 more bucks. >> i would add internet. especially if you're going to a
